Hey fam! 👋 Ready to trade those pumpkin spice lattes for some hot cocoa and seriously bright lights? Kelowna turns into a winter wonderland every December, and we’ve put together the ultimate guide to the five must-see light displays in the city.

1. Candy Cane Lane 🍬

This is the OG of Kelowna holiday lights! This entire neighbourhood bands together to create a dazzling, festive street scene.

  • 📍 Directions: Located in the Rutland area, focusing on Collison Road, Gramiak Road, and Mary Court.
  • ⏰ Hours: Typically lights up nightly from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, from early December through New Year’s Day.
  • 💰 Practical Info: It’s FREE to drive or walk through, but this community-led effort is primarily a fundraiser! Please bring a non-perishable food item or toiletries to drop off at the donation bins (supports local shelters and school programs).
  • ⚠️ Our Tip: This spot gets busy! Go on a weekday, drive slowly, and be super respectful of the residents’ driveways and properties.
  • 🔗 Check for Updates: No official website, but follow the community on social media (search “Candy Cane Lane Kelowna” on Facebook!).

2. The Tree of Hope at Landmark District 💫

You literally can’t miss this towering beacon of holiday spirit!

  • 📍 Directions: Landmark District, 1700 Dickson Avenue. The tree is right in the plaza at Landmark 7.
  • ⏰ Hours: Once lit (usually late November), the tree is visible 24/7 until early January. The surrounding district decorations are perfect for an evening stroll.
  • 💰 Practical Info: FREE to view and easy to access. Parking is free in the Landmark District parkades.
  • ⚠️ Tip: While the tree is incredible, check the Landmark District schedule for the annual Tree of Hope Festival—it’s a massive event with music, markets, and the official lighting ceremony!

3. Stuart Park Skating Rink & Christmas Tree ⛸️

Downtown Kelowna’s signature spot for maximum festive cheer and activity.

  • 📍 Directions: 1430 Water Street, right on the lake in Downtown Kelowna.
  • ⏰ Hours: The massive Christmas tree is lit all season. The skating rink is typically open daily 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM (weather permitting, check the webcam before you go!).
  • 💰 Practical Info: Skating is FREE if you bring your own skates. Don’t have any? Rentals are available on-site for a small fee (around $4–$5). The adjacent fire pit is also a great place to warm up!
  • ⚠️ HoloHoloDuo Tip: Check out the beautiful light canopies strung over nearby Bernard Avenue for a truly magical downtown walk.

4. Festival of Trees (Mission Hill Family Estate & Delta Grand Hotel) 🍷

📍Directions:

  • Mission Hill Family Estate: 1730 Mission Hill Road, West Kelowna.
  • Delta Grand Okanagan Resort: 1310 Water Street, Downtown Kelowna (Main Lobby).

Hours: Displays run from late November to early January. Mission Hill follows winery operating hours, while the Delta Grand display is generally accessible daily in the hotel lobby.

💰 Practical Info: Viewing the sparkling trees at either location is by donation to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

  • At Mission Hill: For a full experience, book their Tasting Experience ($65+ per person), which includes a tour and wine pairings.
  • At Delta Grand: This is a self-guided stroll through the “Festival of Lights” in the lobby, making it an easy, warm stop while exploring downtown.

⚠️ Note: These two offer totally different vibes! Go to Mission Hill for the architecture and wine, but pop into the Delta Grand if you are already downtown. Grab a hot chocolate or dirty soda from Sweet Streams after dinner and pop into the hotel to enjoy the trees.
